Cable and DSL are low cost options for internet access. Both are shared connections and are both affected by distance limitations as well as overall usage with in the neighborhood.

T-1 data options are the most common business internet solution. This is a dedicated connection from the ISP to your business. It is private and secure. Each T-1 gives you symmetrical bandwidth of 1.54MB. T-1's can be bonded together to increase that bandwidth as needed. Businesses that must have constant internet connectivity typically choose T-1 services because of their 99.9999% SLA's. The also may choose these services over DSL or Cable if they have a higher demand for upload connections due to remote access into internal applications, hosting a web server, large email files...etc

Ethernet Over Copper is a technology that can offer high symmetrical bandwidth, similar to T-1's, for lower costs due to unique delivery techniques. They offer similar SLA's to T-1's as well and are a great bandwidth solution if available at your location. Due to the nature of delivery, Ethernet over copper is also distance sensitive.

DS3 / OC3 and Fiber options are for company's requiring extremely high bandwidth and reliability. These are the most expensive forms connectivity but the provide the highest amount of reliability, bandwidth and network control for the business. Businesses that often have these connections are Call Centers, Hospitals, Large Schools, Governments and companies with 100+ employees.

VPN/IPVPN utilizes the Internet connections to tunnel back to the corporate headquarters. This application is a low cost network configuration which requires firewall equipment at all sites to manage traffic flow.

Pt-Pt is a traditional connectivity option which still has a strong presence in local areas and metro locations. These circuits are based on mileage and priced according to distance. Routers are required at each end to control the voice and data information between buildings.

Metro Ethernet is a new High Speed version of a Pt-Pt. Clients that need speeds of 3-6 Megs between locations should consider this option. The increase in cost is offset by the connection speeds available.

MPLS is the latest version of Frame Relay and the most common multi- site connection used in the industry to date. Network traffic can be controlled and enhanced as business needs dictate. This efficient solution can combine Internet, Voice, Video and Data services into a bundled package to lower overall costs. MPLS has QOS/COS (Quality and Class of Service) which is a service guarantee to maintain a fast and effective network by prioritizing traffic.
